I've spent today setting up a Flickr account after I noticed other illustrators using it to promote their work. It should be good as I can add my work to 'group pools' so I should get some more exposure.

Pubs... part 1
My long suffering boyfriend has had to endure my constant sketching in pubs for years now. I think he alternates between feeling neglected and embarrassed. A huge amount of my sketchbook work is observations from cafes and pubs as its a good place to people watch- especially if the person I'm drawing is too drunk to realise that they are being drawn. These few are from my latest sketchbook.

Sketchbook

I've just started a new project but I haven't got anything to post yet, so I decided I'd post some of my old sketchbook pages instead. These were from about a year ago, I've scanned some more so I'm going to post them and chart progress.

L O U I S
This is a little picture I drew of of my boyfriend Louis when we were sat in a pub garden one evening. I did it in my beloved moleskine then removed the crease where the spine was on photoshop. He had just bought some new sunglasses so I thought I'd draw him in them, I don't think he found it particularly flattering though. I had been looking at the work of Joanna Concejo; you can see some of her work here, who is my current favourite illustrator.

Lara Bull, losing count...
These were the pages I did the quickest, the day before deadline, but they have turned out to be some of my favorites. The idea is that April and Lara go out to a pub and Lara starts to see another side to April, but it happens slowly so if I were to finish it I would make it more gradual thing.

Lara Bull part four.
Some 'filler' pages, I thought they could go between other of more content. The first are supposed to be her doodles and the others are collections of eyes and lips cut from magazines that she would have cut out. kind of supposed to show teenage obsession with beauty and perfection.

Lara Bull Part 3

The next pages from my Diary project, the story was going to involve a new friend, April, coming to Lara's school and having a huge influence on everyone.

Lara Bull part two...

These are the next three pages of my latest project, more of which can be seen in the post before. I haven't really created a narrative, at this point at least, I just let it evolve naturally...

The Diary Of Lara Bull
This is my final project from my second year. My idea was to create a book based around a character I created called 'Lara Bull'. The idea is that the main character, Lara, has been given a school art project to create a journal. These are the first three pages. Click on the images to enlarge.
